Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a natural looking cap that is permanently cemented over a damaged tooth, in order to restore the tooth's strength, shape and size, and improve its appearance. The dental crown covers the visible portion of the tooth at the gum line and above.

Dental crowns have many uses - they are used to:  hold weak, broken or cracked teeth together to avoid further fracturing, support large fillings, attach a bridge, or cover discolored or deformed teeth.   Crowns may also be placed over dental implants.

Two dental visits are typically required to fit and install a crown.   First, Dr. Rasi will need to prepare the tooth or implant for the crown by grinding and shaping the tooth so that the crown can be fitted over it.   Next, Dr. Rasi makes an impression of tooth and surrounding gums, and sends the impression to a dental laboratory so that the crown can be fabricated.   Dr. Rasi will fit a temporary crown over the tooth, until the permanent crown is ready.  During the second visit, Dr. Rasi will remove the temporary crown and the finished permanent crown will be cemented onto the prepared tooth.
